Knowledge Engineering for Affective Bi-Modal Human-Computer Interaction

چکیده
This paper presents knowledge engineering for a system that incorporates user stereotypes as well as a multi criteria decision making theory for affective interaction. The system bases its inferences about students’ emotions on user input evidence from the keyboard and the microphone. Evidence form these two modes is combined by a user modelling component underlying the user interface. The user modelling component reasons about users’ actions and voice input and makes inferences in relation to their possible emotional states. The mechanism that integrates the inferences form the two modes has been based on the results of two empirical studies that were conducted in the context of requirements analysis of the system. The evaluation of the developed system showed significant improvements in the recognition of the emotional

Knowledge Engineering Aspects of Affective Bi-Modal Educational Applications
This paper analyses the knowledge and software engineering aspects of educational applications that provide affective bi-modal human-computer interaction. For this purpose, a system that provides affective interaction based on evidence from two different modes has been developed. More specifically, the system’s inferences about students’ emotions are based on user input evidence from the keyboa...
متن کاملBi-modal emotion recognition from expressive face and body gestures
Psychological research findings suggest that humans rely on the combined visual channels of face and body more than any other channel when they make judgments about human communicative behavior. However, most of the existing systems attempting to analyze the human nonverbal behavior are mono-modal and focus only on the face. Research that aims to integrate gestures as an expression mean has onl...
متن کاملTesting the Effectiveness of MBIUI Life-Cycle Framework for the Development of Affective Interfaces
In this paper we test the effectiveness of a unifying life-cycle framework for the development of affective bi-modal interfaces. The life-cycle framework is called MBIUI and may be used for the application of many different multi-criteria decision making theories in intelligent user interfaces. As a case study we use an affective bi-modal educational system. More specifically, we describe the e...
متن کاملAudio-Visual Affective Expression Recognition Through Multistream Fused HMM
Advances in computer processing power and emerging algorithms are allowing new ways of envisioning Human Computer Interaction. Although the benefit of audiovisual fusion is expected for affect recognition from the psychological and engineering perspectives, most of existing approaches to automatic human affect analysis are uni-modal: information processed by computer system is limited to either...
متن کاملVisual and Audio Aware Bi-Modal Video Emotion Recognition
With rapid increase in the size of videos online, analysis and prediction of affective impact that video content will have on viewers has attracted much attention in the community. To solve this challenge several different kinds of information about video clips are exploited. Traditional methods normally focused on single modality, either audio or visual. Later on some researchers tried to esta...
